Emancipator “Baralku”

“BARALKU is a mythological spirit island in the Milky Way upon which departed souls build fires to let their loved ones know they arrived safely in the afterlife. To release a song is both a death and a birth at the same time… It exists in a state of permanent potential energy, waiting to be accessed in the form of music, just as the memory of a departed soul will always have the power to move us.” — Emancipator

BARALKU is a culmination of work from Emancipator (Doug Appling), Summer Wuerthner, Hannah Miller, and Erin Galey. We faced some pretty insane odds on this shoot – winter storms, hail, ice, freezing temperatures, leaky tents, no showers, misbehaving camera gear, hard drive failures, a tight schedule, lofty hair/makeup/wardrobe goals, and everything else nature (and Murphy’s Law) could throw at us. But this ride or die team went way out of their way to bring this project home. We’re unbelievably proud of the level of cohesion this team shared making this video, and the gorgeous final product that came out of the process.
